Choosing Fonts for My Marketing Campaign
One of the things I have noticed when analysing trailers and looking at posters and websites is that the fonts used frequently help indicate the film's genre.
I have decided to produce a marketing campaign for a film from the heist genre so i'm going to conduct some research into appropriate fonts that will instantly indicate to the audience which genre my film will belong to.
One site i'm gong to look at is Dafont. This site is useful because fonts are free to download and they are grouped together in certain categories. One downside of using Dafont is that the categories are not related to film genres.
Another site i'm gong to look at is Font Meme. This site is useful because it has a section on movie and TV fonts and within that section fonts are split into specific genres. One downside is that the fonts aren't free.
Another site i'm gong to look at is Linotype. This site is useful because it has a section dedicated to movie fonts, some of which are from the heist genre. Again, the fonts aren't free to download and the site only includes movies up until 2013.
I'm going to choose a number of potential fonts and organise a focus group to help me choose the most appropriate font for the marketing campaign for my heist movie.
